Wrestling Figures - Jakks/Mattel

Post by Artistix on Fri Oct 02, 2009 3:43 am

Well, here they are:

http://wfigs.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=wftmattel&action=display&thread=150399&page=1

Some look awesome (like the Great Entrances set), & some look a bit crummy.

'Great Entrances' Ray

2-packs Legacy

The Glamazon

Beth is looking a lot healthier that she was on that anorexic Jakks Diva body.

What do we think? I personally like them more than the Jakks figures.

Nice!

Fitting time too, as I was just contemplating selling almost all of my WWE figures this week...

It looks like Mattel is going to be making WWE figures the way they SHOULD have been made by Jakks.

Height scale? Check!
Non-cartoonishly large proportions for EVERYONE? Check!
Decent articulation? Check (on the Elite series, and women)!

Kudos! thumbs up 2

P.S. What exactly is Shawn's action feature here? Neutral

I know Bret thinks he's a bit of a tosser, but... silent

Laughing

They are probably as strange as most of Jakks action feature figures. I bought their 'Moonsaulting' Lita, & all she did was spin in a circle on a piece of turnbuckle!

Another scale pic:

I needs to get that Jakks Jericho pictured above. It looks to be the best one they made! Only RA Jericho I have came in the Canadian 3-pack with Christian & Trish.

That Ray figure is fantastic, I'm almost tempted to buy it myself (when it comes out, of course) and I've never even seen him in the ring! Razz

I had to private message him over at Wrestlingfigs to get the first pic. They wouldn't let him post them on the forums.

He STARTED our Aus community with Ozfigures, when that site started going to poo, myself and a couple of other interested parties asked if we could buy the site to continue it, he refused and it died, so we started Figurama, which was hosted at a crap host site, and none of us was IT savvy enough to keep it going, and before it died simmo started up ozfigurama, the unfortunate part is that we lost a few good members amoungst the 2 big moves, and SWH told us he wouldnt be posting anymore as he was too busy, he hasnt even dropped by to say hi, ah well.....

No kidding! affraid

I really dislike Jakks' "RA" style figures (seriously, what's with those thighs?), but that Jericho is absolute gold! Shocked

The huge thighs, the giant biceps, the wide ass pecs, cartoonish abs & lousy play value...

There wasn't really anything I liked about RA.

DA could have been good, but it takes Jakks years to make enough bodies in a style that everyone looks good. I bought DA versions of Lashley & Masters because they are big guys...I never would have bought a DA Rey. I did buy a DA Punk & he looks crap, he should not look like Hercules. Granted he probably looks better than the RA versions.

Anyone seen these yet?

My local Target & Big W are still stocked with Jakks WWE. I probably won't see any Mattel figures until the Jakks ones disappear. Crying or Very sad

On the bright side though, Mattel has shown a head shot of the upcoming basic series 3 Mickie James:

Saw some at Big W Livingstone.

They had Stone Cold, Undertaker, Randy Orton. Maybe a couple of others.

They look similar to the Jakks figures, but different at the same time. The head sculpts looked "cheaper" but the bodies looked a bit better.

I think the paint work on the faces will be something they can work on & perfect.

Many of the Jakks figures had very realistic looking faces, but were always dragged down by the terrible bodies.

Thought I'd make this an all-emcompassing wrestling figure thread.

As a fan of the women figures (& the women wrestlers), I am pretty stoked to see Jakks produce a Deluxe style Velvet Sky action figure in Deluxe Impact 3:

She is actully the best looking figure in the set IMO:
http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/inner2.php?id=16187&page_id=1

By comparison to Velvet, Mattel's Basic Asst#5 Melina isn't quite up to snuff:

http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/inner2.php?id=16185&page_id=1

Hurricane & Mike Knox look pretty cool

I'll wait till I see final images to make any judgements on the ladies. Jakks sometimes take amazing promo images for the girls that look nothing like the horrid final figure (ECW Kelly), whereas Mattel sometimes take terrible pics of proto's & the final figures look better (MOTUC Adora).

It will be interesting to see if it is a Diva series or a general series.

From the men I would like to see Randy & Morrison in the style.

From the women I think Maryse & Kelly would be seen after Beth.

I actually saw that Ricky Steamboat figure in Target the other day for $25...I should have bought him but I bought the Royal Rumble Punk instead for about $15.

The Undertaker exclusive from Matty, is that in 6" scale or larger?

Did that Entrance Greats-Triple H figure ever come out here? I've been waiting for ages for it. I'm wondering if I should just fork out the cash and get one from across the pond.

It would be the same scale as the other figures. Both Mattels Basic & Elite figures are 6".

I've seen Basic & the classic sets, but no Entrance Greats or any 2-packs. I don't think my town has ever stocked WWE 2-packs.

As a fan of the Diva figures I was happy to see 2 new additions (aside from the 12" Beth):
Michelle McCool

Kelly Kelly

They got Macho Man to sign on for action figures:

Plus I saw a pic on Wrestlingfigs that shows we finally have a Melina who can do her entrance:
