Marvel : Secret Invasion

Post by BoloMusashi on Fri Mar 28, 2008 6:20 am

Anyone planning on getting this issue by issue? I'm not a fan of multi-title crossovers so I'll be waiting for the trade while reading spoilers etc.

I went full trade for Civil War but after reading Messiah Complex issue by issue and really enjoying it I realised there's something missing when reading crossovers in trade so i'm getting Secret Invasion in issue form as well. Just watched to SI trailer which didn't reveal any new info but still has me anticipating this story even moreso.

Secret Invasion

Post by simmo on Thu Apr 03, 2008 1:17 am

Haven't read it yet but I'm really looking forward to it.

Had a thought though...the Illuminati still have the Infinity Gems, right? Could we have an open ended finish to the series, much like Marvel's other "events" where the Infinity gems play a part and lead into the next big event, where Annihilation meets the MU proper and we have a concluding part to the Inifinity series?

Read it this morning before going to work. One thought:

Spoiler:
Seeing as how Jarvis is a skrull, if he and May did the nasty, that would truly redefine the term "rubbing uglies"

wowzers, what a bloody fantastic read. this first issue met, and surpassed my expectations.

Mr Bendis has in fact convinced me with this to drop several titles on my pull list that are no longer up to par.

good bye amazing spiderman and other offenders.

I will be getting the tie ins for
New Avengers
Mighty Avengers
and the Secret Invasion minis.

I just read the Skrull saga which was part of the free comic book day. This was a good historical read about the Skrull saga through the ages.

I did notice that Amazing Spidey isnt part of the Skrull deal. I still have 3 ishs of ASM to read but I am close to packing it in for other titles.

i think i'll just stick to my core titles for SI, picked up too much junk from WWH and CW that wasn't needed.

gotta start being picky i think. I pick up too much crap as it is

Bit the bullet and bought #1 of the mini, will be grabbing any Secret Invasion issues that flow into my main floppies list - New Avengers, Mighty Avengers etc.

comments re #3
Spoiler:
Thought #3 took a while to get going, it kind of feels like the first half of the issue was a wrapup of all the other crossovers that are going on. The second half went so quickly that it felt it ended when it was getting interesting. Cool moments? Jarvis' arrival on the helicarrier, the destruction of Vision's head and the rumble effect on the following page signaling the arrival of Fury. We get a good tease that Stark might be a skrull but no reveal, it felt like 'spiderwoman' was toying with his head but I can't see what the point of that was, why not neutralise him for good? Not as much death as I thought there would be fromt he hints given by Bendis. Hmmmm

loving the new avengers and mighty avengers issues more at the moment. I'm all about the back story of the actually invasion more than the fight itself. lots of fun though.
