Yeah, I'm not really looking forward to that Egon, Marshmallow mess Ray or Slime Blower Winston.

In hindsight I probably shouldn't have signed up for the Ecto-1 sub! Laughing

I've got the Toys R us exclusive set, which I quite like, only problem is Ray likes to fall over and take out other figures in the process Sad otherwise a very neat set! I much prefer the grey coverall to the Tan/beige ones myself.

Dang. Was hoping more for an Ecto-1.

Not sure if I'll get the stay puft... have the NECA one (even if it is smaller). This one still isn't going to be scale anyway.

I gather the standing legs for Dana will feature articulation, but I'm wondering how they will do it with the arms. The sleeves of that dress won't be allowing much movement. Though I would still prefer they added some movememnt in the arms just so her hands are not always posed like that.

I was saying on our SDCC show that I was a bit worried about my Stay Puft. Most people in the US were charging about $60 postage for him. The guy I bought him from only charged $25 postage.

How did you go with your Stay Puft Sam?
I've had to do a Paypal claim as not only did the seller not get at SDCC him, but I haven't been refunded
Typically I get paid the day after Matty puts him on sale so I'm not liking my chances Crying or Very sad

Re: Mattel Ghostbusters Figures

After I typed that message above I headed to eBay & asked the seller if $25 was really enough postage for such a large item.

Surely enough the seller did not realise how large the item was going to be, & has said postage will actually be about $70. I'd already paid $25 towards that when I bought it, so that's not too bad.

The seller did say there were some issues with damaged packaging....I am a little worried about that, as this is a rare time when the packaging matters.

I'm so going to have to grab the Retro Ghostbusters now. That diorama with Janine & Samhain is awesome!

I think there is another diorama piece coming with the 12" 2-pack.

Ecto-1 Cancelled:
http://forums.mattycollector.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/2361004165/m/2751037517

Ghostbusters Fans,

You know how much love the Matty team has for Ghostbusters, and although we were ready to support a subscription in 2012, sales were lower than we expected. We regret to announce that we have to cancel the 2012 Club Ecto-1 subscription. All 2012 orders will be promptly refunded. If you purchased a 2012 subscription, you should see the refund in your account within 5-7 business days of your refund being processed, depending on your bank. All 2011 subscriptions will continue to ship as scheduled.

Like you, we're disappointed that the subscription will be going away for 2012, but to show our appreciation for you fans who stepped up and bought a 2012 subscription, we're working on a "thank you" just for you. Stay tuned as we'll have something special coming for you in appreciation for your support.

Please know that the Ghostbusters line isn't over! To do right by all Ghostbusters fans, we're still moving forward with the previously announced figures for 2012 (Ready to Believe You Peter with Taxi Cab Ghost, The Rookie, Dana as Zuul) and a fourth figure in the fall, to be announced. These figures will be available at our regular monthly sales. Like our other lines, costs have risen since the brand was launched and the price of the 6" figures will increase to $22 each.

Now on to brighter news. In celebration of the boo bustin' boys' favorite time of the year, we're going to re-release some of your favorite figures during a special Ghostbusters Halloween sale. The sale will run from 10/17 through 10/31, and it's the perfect time to fill in any missing characters in your collection and stock up on favorites. But wait… yes, there's more! Not only will we have a great selection of characters, the October 17 sale will also bring the long-awaited Ghost Trap prop, plus the return of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man!

Again, on behalf of the team, thanks for being a loyal fan. Long live the Ghostbusters!

P.S. Please know that all of the other subscriptions are 100% a done deal and there will no other cancellations. 2012 is locked and loaded with plenty more awesome surprises and reveals for Power-Con and NYCC!

--Matty

From ToyGuru over at MattyCollector's message boards

Just because the 2012 sub is not going forward and the total 6" figs will go from 6(7 with sub fig) to 4 does not mean 6" is dead. We have other plans and as we get to 2013 we are still looking strong at the GB property and the 6" scale in terms of what we can put out for fans and through what channels.

2012 did get cut a bit due to low sub sales, but the 6" scale is still kicking. Remember, the GB world is not as vast as say DC or even MOTU. We want to fill all the holes too in terms of variants and original characters left to do from Movie 1, 2 and the video game.

And 6" is not the only scale we are looking at. A lot of potential is still to be unlocked. Stay tuned for more!

TG

Re: Mattel Ghostbusters Figures

BULL-dung. Didn't Mattel previously confirm that ALL subscriptions, other than DCUC had met their minimum targets and were guaranteed for 2012? And now Ghostbusters is cancelled?

Will Voltron be cancelled next or was it enough for them to force the non-subscribers to buy both the Lions and Pilots even though had originally been announced as sold separately?

In terms of Ghostbusters, I can somewhat see Mattel's POV since Ghostbusters 3 is still stuck in development h3ll and they must have thought there would be a movie "soon" when they first started planning the line. BUT, there's no excuse for selling the subscription, telling the subscribers that their subscription was confirmed and then cancelling it due to poor sales.

You know the subscriptions are really low this year that why they extended the time period multipul times. When they offered them again without the GB I knew something was up and the line was fairly much done.

By my caculation Mattel may only has the rights to Ghostbusters until Feb/March of 2012. (They Got it in 09 possibly for 3 years) Maybe Sony/Columbia/Mattel could not reach a agreement going into 2012 and beyond due to said upcoming movie.

It maybe a case of both licensing issues and poor sales. But yes you right there will be some hate over this one. Ahh Mattel you done it again.
