Bah. You're just not big enough action figure junkies.

And probably don't live in your parents granny flat as I do. Teehee

Even though I already have the box set, I nabbed another "Voyage of the Damned" box set today. For $20.00 for four (4) figures, I just couldn't resist and I remain hopeful that if Mr Toys sees the stock move quickly, they will consider ordering more Dr Who figures in 2010 when the "New series" line is relaunched.

They also had the 12" Martha Jones and Novice Hame (aka Cat Nun) for $13.00 each.

Cheers.

Oooh I could go a 12" Martha for $13. She easily qualifies as the most 'fit' of all the Doctors companions, with the possible exception of Leela. Unfortunately it's unlikely I'll be going to Brisneyland before they're all gone...

I think TRU had the 12" Martha Jones on sale a while ago. The TRU near me sold out, but you might want to check your local TRU (if you have one).

If not, if you wanted to pay the postage, I could try and nab a Martha Jones for you.

Cheers.

The 12" Martha is a really nice figure. So is Novice Hame.

I saw them cheap on eBay months ago for about $20 each I think & bought the ladies & the Judoon. Finding a 12" Doctor won't be as easy a task. The Cybermen & Clockwork Droids from that range are really cool looking too.

$10 each for 2 more Heavenly Hosts is a pretty good deal. You could also remove Astrids apron, then you'd have the apronless variant they released in the Vespiform wave.

I just watched 'Voyage of the Damned' when it was on the UKTV series 4 marathon a few weeks ago, so I put all my VOTD figures on top of the TV. Astrid is now holding the weapon Bannakaffalatta gave her in the episode, the one he had in his chest cavity. Banna is such a cool figure! Very Happy

I still need to Bana to complete my VOTD "set".

And a Tuxedo Doctor as well. And Wilf. Too many to collect!

Post by HAL on Fri Oct 23, 2009 7:04 am

I kept putting off just grabbing all the Doctors because it seemed that Colin Baker was quite elusive and I really didn`t need to be tracking figures down and paying loads of money.............anyway, found him the other day in my local Toyworld along with Tom Baker and Peter Davison....thought great, now I`ve got him I`ll track down the rest, only to now learn that the first 3 Drs are Forbidden Planet exclusives...I`m back in the U.K in a couple of weeks so hopefully they may still have some floating around, but does anyone know if they`ll get a mass release at some point??? Feel free to correct anything i`ve said above, i`m not that clued up when it comes to Dr Who only that I just want the Drs dammit, cheap and hassle free!!!!!!!!!

Good stuff Drizzt. I see you have that really early Battle Pack Rose figure. They were certainly painted terribly! Though later versions looked better.

It's a shame Billie Piper decided there were to be no more action figures of Rose. CO had atleast one more in the pipeline that will never see the light of day:

It's odd that she would have any say in the matter at all. Usually once you have signed over your likeness for merchandising purposes, which I imagine would be part of the standard contract for anyone appearing on Doctor Who from the beginning, that's that, unless the contract between the licensor and licensee (i.e. BBC and CO) had some sort of issue or objection clause attached. Very strange.

In regards to Billie's likeness rights, a member of the Who forums was telling me it is more a case of her initial contract allowing figures be made while she was on the show, once she had left the show they needed to get fresh approval of newer products.

Her & her managent simply said they would not be approving any more figures.

It also may have something to do with Billies next big role as 'Call Girl' Belle Du Jour.

Seems like a bit of an odd contract to have, especially from the point of view of BBC marketing, but if that's the case then that's that I suppose.

I do wonder how her guest appearances factor into such things though. I mean she was on the show again during the season 4 finale after all, and I'd be surprised if she didn't make another guest appearance in either the Christmas or New Years specials coming up...though I do my best to avoid spoilers, so I don't actually know one way or the other.

Anyway it's a shame, because that would have been a popular piece with fans and collectors methinks.

Re: Doctor Who? random gold...

Some said Billie Piper's physicality issues were also a factor.

It was noted the Donna Noble figure was created wearing a coat at the request of Catherine Tate as she also has 'issues' with her body shape.

So maybe these kinda contracts are kinder to women than men. Not that it's seems particularly fair! Very Happy

^^^ Nice. I'm always tempted to collect more Daleks, but they seem to take up so much room on the shelf. If only they came with some kind of flying/floating pedestal or something.

I am hoping to grab the new Tesco's Cyberman three-pack once they start showing up in the UK a bit more wiedely (via Ebay of course). And if Amazon's pre-order for the 11 Doctor boxed set is correct, then it will be a "must buy". At 50 pounds, it seems almost too good to be true (provided I can even find a way to purchase one not being in the UK and everything - stupid Amazon postage restrictions).

Cheers.

Cool figs Nightcrawler.

I just saw the news they will be releasing an '11 Doctors' set next year!
That should be awesome. And atleast we know they are making a 5" Matt Smith.

Not that 3.75" has been confirmed at all....though I would really love a sub line of 3.75" figures. It would give Character the opportunity to make more playsets & vehicles.

I recall they had to cancel the Tom Baker with his car Bessie set & that would probably have a better chance in 3.75".

Bessie was Jon Pertwee's car actually, as was the little seen Whomobile (the latter of which he actually owned I believe). I think Baker only ever used Bessie in his first tory Robot, as a sort of carry over/touchstone from the previous Doctor after his regeneration.

I am such a geek... Laughing

Spot on Sledge, Bessie was all Pertwee.

I won't be getting in on any 3.75" action, in fact I've just about got all the Doctor Who stuff that interests me now, although the 11 doctor box set MIGHT interest me...

I'd imagine they used Baker as there was no Pertwee figure at the time. Atleast I'm pretty sure the image showed Baker & Bessie.

The image released was Baker with Bessie (and a mock-up of a "classic" TARDIS from memory). CO were just trying to trick Who fans with their dastardly tactics.

Ah, yes, silly me. I just assumed that they'd use the appropriate Doctor with Bessie, rather than the most popular classic Doctor just because they could.

A new set coming out:

10th Doc, Master, 11th Doc, Timelord

That Time Lord is played by Timothy Dalton apparently! (Bond actor)

Better pic of the Matt Smith head sculpt:

Apparently the Doctors will be receiving a new body, they just used the old ones for these proto's.
