Phantom

Post by Strika on Thu Jun 25, 2009 10:06 am

hi Guys,
I see that they are gonna make a new Phantom movie. Has anyone heard who is to play the Phantom, and more importantly, if their will be any figures brought out for it?

I don't know anything, but I sure hope they make some (decent) figures. I'd love to add a regular ol' phantom to my shelves. I even asked about the original movie back on ozfigures - and I've never read the comics or seen that film!

The Phantom TV movie? This one:

http://scifiwire.com/2009/04/get-a-sneak-peek-at-the-t.php

Looks like a "custom" figure would simply be a re-paint of any of the Smallville Series 2 action figures.

I don't think they would make figures based on a TV movie, but if the movie is a success and is green-lit for a series and if the series is a success, then it could happen (although it seems harder and harder for properties to have action figure related merchandise these days - where is the "Legend of the Seeker" action figure licence announcement? Not to mention "True Blood" - although the cancellation of the cancellation of the Heroes and Buffy lines suggests that True Blood may be unlikely).

Cheers.

I thought they were going to make a feature, here is the imdb link
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0366899/

The original figures were just terrible. They stunk up Toys R Us for years afterwards.

Shocker Toys has the rights to the comic figure at the moment. (We need Shane here to make a comment about that)

Slated for there series 3 of indy spotlight. Figure actually looks good. But as with all things shocker toys there is a sliding scale to when products get released and how many etc.

So much I know. Not much I reveal.

ack that design is pretty horrible, i guess it could work if it was urban set but that would look a bit strange in the jungle imo

I'm not sure a hooded purple onesie with a diamond mask is ever a good idea in the real world...

Shocker Toys you say.

I recall sometime over the last few years when a Shocker rep was abusing people over at the Fwoosh forums! They may have deserved it for all I know, but it was still odd to see a company rep acting that way.

I'm not a big fan of their products in any case, though I don't mind the look of the new Dick Tracy figures.

Back to the Phantom, I would love to see a new movie. All I remember of the Billy Zane version is....Billy Zane in a purple suit.
