Alpha Dog on DVD last night. based on a true story with a few jaw dropping moments where you just cannot understand how idiots can get themselves into such a stupid situation.

Re: Last Movie You Watched
Ugh finally watched Alien/Predator Requiem.....expectations were low after hearing the majority of people write off this movie which saddly contains 2 of my favorite franchise players.....In a lame to the original by calling a main character 'Dallas' seemed to be pissed that his brother got punched by some idiot but barely blinks when hearing of a policeman being skinned alive and a large explosion at the local nuclear plant...he must have seen some really bad stuff in prison.....and when they discover 2 guys hiding in the gun store and they ask if terrorists have attacked they get 'Are you high?' as a reply....I know I always think of aliens when the power goes out here....then insert a pseudo Ripley character and a few lines from the predator movie at the end......the final scenes with the pred's gun seem to have been taken off of the Terminator cutting room floor bah!

American Gangster
Denzel was the bollox as usual, but I thought anyone could have played Russel Crowe's part (at least someone who wouldn`t keep slipping out of accent).

Re: Last Movie You Watched
The Island.
I really enjoyed the whole idea of it. The execution was good, I quite enjoyed the camera work - and the stunts. And the only thing left lacking was that we never got to see what happened with Jordan's donor.
Also it was very touched by the death thing. Some movies you get plenty of random deaths and due to conditioning you don't bat an eyelid. This though, it hit home.
All praise aside though, there were a few parts where I cringed and thought "oh right and what happened between those two shots?!" where they just left off and didn't explain or finish the shot properly.

Sweetest, I...I don't know what to say. I thought the Island was one of the worst films I've seen in a long time. To each their own I guess.
I saw Eight Diagram Pole Fighter the other day...it was an old, Shaw brothers Kung-Fu flick on World Movies. So awesome, lots of stick fighting and big sound effects during the battles. You could totally see where Tarantino went for reference in Kill Bill.

Well, I am an emotional retard so I think it helps if you immerse yourself like that (I don't have a choice). But I've been hearing a lot of people say they didn't like it.
I do tend to like crap films, btw.

I haven't seen it, but most of the people I know that did see it were PO'd that the trailer gave most of the story away. I actually watched Shaun of the Dead for the first time last night - I don't watch movies that often.
Oh well, back to waiting for my Justice League : New Frontiers DVD to arrive.

the island is pretty much based on Logan's Run isn't it? I always watch that when it's on tv it's an oldie but a goodie (worlds best special effects)

Re: Last Movie You Watched
The Island shamelessly ripped off a 70`s movie called The Clonus Horror. The makers of that film filed and settled reaching a seven figure settlement!!
Logan`s Run was due to film around the same time as the Island was greenlit but I think it was abandoned because of The Island`s poor reception.
Anyway, having said that I didn`t mind the Island. Good choice of Ewan as the hero, when someone like Will Smith would have given the film more success and no one does freeway chases like Michael Bay!!!
And, erm, last film I watched....Cloverfield. Last night. Liked it.
