Max Payne is on my list of Top 10 Games Ever - the first is amazing in every way: great storyline, amazing action, wonderfully implemented game mechanics, an absolutely killer ending. It just rocks hard, a game I try to replay in full at least once a year. The sequel is also great, but doesn't revolutionise anything the way the first did - there's something astonishing about playing it for the first time and feeling the gameplay change as you jump into bullet time and shoot a whole mob of dudes in the face before they can hit you once. It's the only game to have really nailed that feeling (even F.E.A.R's fantastic slowmo mechanics don't feel as nifty or fluid as Max Payne) and it also features a phenomenal little film noir storyline that plays out beautifully.

The movie is just terrible, terrible, terrible - the storyline makes no sense, the acting atrocious, the script worse, and the action sequences a complete waste of time. It looks ok, but is dreadfully dull, never makes us sympathise or care about the characters, and just flat out sucks. It's also completely beyond me as to why they didn't stick with the game storyline and script - the game dialogue is superb, the movie dialogue is ghastly. The movie script is a bizarre hodgepodge of the first and second game in such a way that's never ever coherent or interesting, and lacks the vast majority of the amazing cinematic scenes that populated the game. (Those who played through the first game will be astonished to hear that although the final scene of the film takes place on a helipad, the amazing helicopter-tower-destruction sequence isn't even considered. Abominable.) Avoid at all costs - just grab the game instead, it'll be some of the best 8 hours of your life.

(For the record, my Top 10 Games Ever, in no particular order:
1. Super Mario World
2. Animal Crossing (series)
3. Max Payne (series)
4. Bioshock
5. Silent Hill (series)
6. Battlefield (series)
7. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
8. Rock Band
9. Duke Nukem 3D
10. Worms (series)
Runners Up: Metal Gear Solid (series), Spider-Man 2, Yoshi's Island (series), Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, You Don't Know Jack! (series), Grand Theft Auto (series), Resident Evil (series), Counter-Strike (series), Braid, Street Fighter (series), Team Fortress 2, Mario Kart (series), Hitman: Blood Money, Halo (series), Warioware (series), Professor Layton (series), Trauma Center (series), Mortal Kombat (series), God of War (series), Guitar Hero (series), Half-Life (series), Portal, Banjo Kazooie (series)

Sukiyaki Western Django. Loved it!

Also, The Incredible Hulk. Sits nicely alongside Spidey, Iron Man etc, but I still prefer Ang Lee`s take

I'm curious, TheMyth, what did you like about the ending? Did you think it tied everything together nicely? Did you find it predictable at all?

the major beats of the film were predictable, and the set up for the final scene was obvious as it played out, but i still managed to enjoy it somewhat. I'm a bit of a jigsaw junkie i guess.

was probably the least fav of the five so far, but i still enjoyed it for what it was.

the 10 pints of blood trap was a little hard to watch though

Batman Returns. For the first time. I'm now watching Batman Forever. And I must say, both Kilmer and Keaton are pretty good in the suit. But when it comes to Bruce Wayne, Bale craps all over them Razz

Likewise on the Jigsaw Junkie, but I really liked Saw IV and felt let down a little - especially the ending, with all of these "You wont believe how it ends!" lines floating around in the advertising, and then it ended without anything really surprising. How awesome were their split hands/arms after the 10 pints of blood trap? That's ghastly!

It's probably for the best... No

Rather then watching the rest of IJatKotCS, I would suggest instead watching the South Park episode "The China Probrem" (Season 12, Ep. 08 ), which contains a disturbingly accurate appraisal of it all.
